DCB Kent Ltd provides professional, high quality building, refurbishment, disabled adaptations and maintenance services across the South East. Customers are predominately housing associations, local authorities and education providers. Established in 1998, the firm now has a direct workforce of over 100 highly skilled tradespeople and a wide ranging project portfolio from small reactive maintenance call outs to major design and build projects.

The award for Best Newcomer went to Scallywags (Medway) Ltd. Based at Rainham, the nursery offers a full day childcare service, predominantly for working parents and set in a custom-made building with a home from home feel. The business is family-owned and run with handpicked senior management with an emphasis on high quality.
Success through Training Award
Success through Training Award
HE Services Plant Hire Ltd scooped the Success through Training Award. The firm hires out excavators and construction equipment across the UK from its base on the Medway City Estate. The company prides itself on broad based apprenticeship scheme and currently has 10 apprentices at its head office and Strood depot, with many more across the country. Staff health is also important and they are positively encouraged to take part in the Get Active - A Better Medway Scheme.

Popular Diggerland based at Medway Valley Leisure Park won the Growth by Marketing Awards. The firm offers the excitement of being spun round in a giant digger bucket, lifted 50ft skywards in the Sky Shuttle and whirled around in the Dig-a-Round carousel or race around in a go-kart. Visitor numbers have soared since its inception 15 years ago and the company has expanded to four UK sites with a February 2016 opening on 125 acres at Evesham. The company also has a site in the U.S. and is currently viewing further development options in Europe.
A company that defied the recent recession and has enjoyed a 400 per cent turnover growth since 2008 took the top prize of a trophy and £1000 at this year’s Medway Business Awards, then gave it away to the charity for the evening, The Mayor’s Fund.
