Every year, after visiting the finalists, I sense the commitment businesses have to Medway, employing local people and wanting to give back to our community. We are also lucky to have businesses of all shapes and sizes across many sectors.
“This year our finalists range from professional advisers to healthcare providers; design and consultancy services to manufacturers of award-winning products; letting and sales agents to tuition for children; digital hobbies to electric vehicles and a unique visitor experience offering fine dining and quality spirits.I think we pretty much have it all here in Medway! Classic Filters
Classic Filters design and manufacture high efficiency filters, originally for gas analysers used in petro-chemical plants and automotives, but now they are also on the cutting edge of green hydrogen production and biogas production across the world. They also produce the filtration for the analysers used to detect and study the coronavirus right from when it was first detected. Classic Filters continue to supply filters to the Large Hadron Collider, Mercedes AMG F1 and to many other high profile users of filtration. If someone has a filtration problem, they are there to solve it!

Copper Rivet Distillery
Housed in a beautiful Victorian Pumphouse at the heart of Chatham’s Historic Dockyard, Copper Rivet Distillery uses locally farmed grain to create the deliciously unique Dockyard Gin, Masthouse Whisky, Vela Vodka and Son of a Gun. Dovetail Games is an award-winning developer and publisher of market leading simulation entertainment software, known as the niche trains and fishing people who produce awesome realistic simulation titles. They continue to grow, developing games using cutting-edge technology and delivering these on multiple platforms: PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as Next Generation platforms, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The company sets ambitious goals and prides itself on developing and delivering new simulation titles across this cutting-edge technology.
EC Safety Solutions
EC Safety Solutions offer a one stop shop for Health, Safety and Wellbeing needs. Providing a consultancy service and accredited training. Their clients range from local businesses to large multi-national organisations such as Rolex, Covington and Dechert. They have also established a substantial client base across numerous sectors providing specific legislative updates, policies, procedures and risk assessments, as well as on-site inspections, compliance audits, fire risk assessments and training. The company has a friendly hands-on approach and work closely with the client to produce the right level support the company deserves.
eVision Electric Vehicle Hire
EVision Electric Vehicles, founded in 2014, was the first and is still the largest pure electric vehicle hire company in the UK. NEGU Tuition Services
NEGU Tuition Services provide bespoke, child-centred, in home and online tuition services to a variety of learners, predominately supporting those with additional needs. They also offer an Education, Health and Care Plan consultancy service providing support to families who are struggling to receive the wellbeing, advice and framework required to meet the needs of their child. A supportive environment is offered to both clients and tutors, many were qualified teachers who have left full time teaching, but missed the challenges and rewards of enriching young minds. ScreenCancer UK
ScreenCancer UK is a private healthcare company, offering an affordable, quality, mole/pigmented lesion screening service for detection of skin cancer. A trained health professional/pharmacy adviser captures images of the mole(s)lesion(s) of concern using innovative scanning technology which is then analysed by a dermatologist, the report is sent to the customer and followed up if required. The company also run a company screening and educational program for employers. Part of the educational aspect includes; guidance and bespoke presentations on how to stay safe in the sun, how to check moles/skin lesions for possible sign of skin cancer.
VBH
VBH (GB) Ltd celebrates 40 years in business this year after being founded in Rochester in 1982. With the head office now in Gillingham, the company supplies hardware and accessories to window and door manufacturers, installers, locksmiths and
maintenance companies across the UK and beyond from their HQ and two further sites. The company supplies its own greenteQ brand of top quality hardware. One recent addition to the range is the Q-Smart electronic door handle that allows users to access their homes using their fingerprint, rather than with a traditional key.
Waterstone Design
Waterstone Design was incorporated in 2004 by two ambitious engineers looking to “do it better” by providing a building services consultancy with a more personal approach. This desire to be better and improve both their service and product, to exceed client expectations, led to rapid growth of the company’s client base and workforce. The company is committed to providing a first-class service, which can only be achieved by ensuring that they understand the nature of their clients’ business to guarantee that the end product is a complete success.
