The 2023 Winners!

Celebrating the hard work of Medway businesses!

Businesses from across Medway came together on Friday 17th November at a glittering awards celebration at Priestfield Stadium to find out the winners of the 2023 Medway Business Awards!

The Medway Business Awards now in its 38th year continues to reward and celebrate the work of Medway’s business sector.  Susan Jennings, a partner with Furley Page Solicitors and head of its Medway office and chair of the Medway Business Awards judges said:

Another fantastic year for the Medway Business Awards. Whilst other awards are falling by the wayside, Medway seems to be bucking the trend. Containing diverse businesses and enormously talented people who deserve recognition for their achievements.

It has been great to see determination, flair and hard work from the wide variety of businesses that have applied. The judges comprising me, Rachel Emmerson of Kreston Reeves and Gavin Coleman of Handelsbanken, had a tough job selecting the finalists and deciding on the winners.

This year’s finalists showed commitment to their staff, customers and the community around them. Focus remains firmly fixed on investment, growth and the environment.

Many congratulations to the finalists and winners. This has been the toughest year yet for the judges!”

Over 250 guests attended the lavish black-tie event, which was hosted by Nicola Everett, Head of multimedia news at KentOnline.  It was an evening packed with great entertainment, including live music from Medway band The Redford’s, a casino, and also award-winning magicians.

What our winners' said

Large Business of the Year, went to Medway City Estate based MTS Cleansing Services, who offer a multitude of services such as liquid waste removal via bulk tankering, drainage cleansing, and flood response.

Nigel Heward from MTS Cleansing Services Ltd said: “We are delighted to have been awarded Large Business of the Year for 2023 by the Medway Business Awards. The financial year 2022/23 was our busiest year yet with a record turn over and exceptionally strong performance especially in the south-east where our work is helping to protect the environment for our water utility clients. 2023 remains equally as busy with a significant ongoing demand on our services.

We are very proud of all our staff, who’s dedication and commitment has enabled us to perform at such a high level and it is fitting that their exceptional efforts have been recognised in this award. Not resting on our laurels, MTS will strive to deliver its class leading performance to its utility, commercial and domestic clients in 2024 and that we will be making a further submission to next year’s awards given the opportunity to do so.

Brimstone Site Investigation, the UK’s only government-assured unexploded ordnance company, took home SME of the Year.

Aaron Florence, Managing Director said:  “Brimstone is incredibly proud to have won SME of the Year at the 2023 Medway Business Awards. This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and innovation of our amazing team. We couldn’t have done it without the support of our clients, partners, and the local Medway community.

From the initial entry into the awards to the unforgettable awards evening, the entire process was flawlessly executed, and we extend our gratitude to the Medway Business Awards team for their outstanding support at every stage.”

Another delighted winner was Rainham based Amy Jayne Aesthetics, an award-winning laser and skin clinic who pride themselves on quality customer service and making that difference to help improve body confidence and mental health.

Amy Bowler, founder and owner said on winning the 2023 Customer Care Award: “I am honestly speechless, to be a finalist was amazing, but to win is just incredible. I put my heart and soul into my business so winning this makes it all worthwhile, it’s a testament to all the girls at the clinic who help to make the clinic what it is today.”
